The initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to further develop cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia has received full support from the leadership of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.
The press service of the Center stated that unique exhibitions featuring rare works of Islamic culture, directly related to the history of Uzbekistan, will be held in Uzbekistan.

Visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

As is known, on February 5, during his official visit to Malaysia, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.

This museum, located in the heart of Southeast Asia, specializes in the study and preservation of Islamic artistic heritage. It was founded in 1998 with the support of the Al-Bukhary Foundation. The museum covers a total area of 300,000 square meters, attracting not only local visitors but also numerous tourists from Muslim countries.

During the specially organized museum tour for the President of Uzbekistan, Said Muhammad Bukhari emphasized that Uzbek craftsmen played an active role in the design and restoration of the museum’s interior, where five magnificent domes, decorated in national style, are located.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the unique artifacts stored in the museum, including examples of cultural heritage related to the history of Uzbekistan, ancient manuscripts, exquisite miniatures, and historical relics.

The President of Uzbekistan was accompanied by one of the founders of this cultural institution, the museum’s director, Said Muhammad Bukhari.

Additionally, the museum hosted a book exhibition featuring publications from the International Scientific Research Centers named after Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Termizi, as well as the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

Malaysian Artifacts to be Presented at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan

During the museum visit, the President of Uzbekistan proposed to organize a special exhibition of artifacts from the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. This proposal was warmly supported and enthusiastically accepted by Said Muhammad Bukhari.

Following the official visit of the Uzbek delegation to the museum, the Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, held negotiations with Said Muhammad Bukhari, Director of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.

The negotiations on the implementation of President Mirziyoyev’s initiative were attended by the heads of the International Scientific Research Centers named after Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, and Imam Maturidi.

During the discussions, Said Muhammad Bukhari expressed his deep appreciation for the proposal of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and noted that the implementation of this initiative is an honor both for him personally and for the entire museum staff.

Furthermore, an agreement was reached to involve leading experts from both sides to successfully implement this significant project.

There was also an exchange of views on finalizing the exhibition concept for displaying the artifacts at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.

During the negotiations, the Malaysian delegation was provided with detailed information about the large-scale restoration and development work carried out at the Imam Bukhari Complex in Samarkand at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan.

The Director of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia agreed to organize an exhibition of museum artifacts at the Imam Bukhari Complex as part of the second phase of bilateral cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Said Muhammad Bukhari remarked: “Uzbekistan is truly a center of civilizations. In the field of culture, your country has many aspects from which we can learn. The visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Malaysia is of great significance for cultural exchange between our countries. Most importantly, Mr. President knows history well and values culture. Judging by the development and transformations in Uzbekistan’s cultural life, one can say that your President possesses vast knowledge. He fully understands the role of culture as an integral part of life. That is why he strives to develop this field. I completely agree with the actions and vision of your President. Uzbekistan can serve as an example for all countries, as the reforms being implemented in your country deserve high recognition. Your country shares its knowledge and culture with others, and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan plays a crucial role in this. We are ready to provide friendly support and cooperate with the Center not only now but also in the future. I am confident that the relationship between the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan will continue to strengthen and flourish.”

Strengthening Cultural Cooperation Between Uzbekistan and Malaysia

“The visit of our esteemed President to one of Malaysia’s most significant cultural and artistic institutions, along with the ideas and proposals he put forward, has elevated the cooperation between the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia to a new, higher level,” said Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.

“Our Head of State particularly emphasized that bilateral cooperation must yield practical results. Based on the proposals and initiatives of our country’s leader, an agreement was reached on organizing exhibitions from the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the Imam Bukhari Complex, as well as on creating a working group consisting of representatives from the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and scholars from both sides. The agreements reached, with active participation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, serve as a direct endorsement by Malaysia of the spiritual, educational, cultural, and humanitarian reforms being carried out in New Uzbekistan.

On behalf of all participants of the negotiations, we express our gratitude to our esteemed President for creating the conditions for the advancement of science, culture, and art, which will undoubtedly lead to important scientific discoveries and research. Our main task now is to ensure the full implementation of all the agreements reached on both sides,” emphasized Firdavs Abdukhalikov.

Cultural Cooperation Between Scholars of Uzbekistan and Malaysia

According to the press service of the Center of Islamic Civilization, with the organizational support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, a roundtable discussion titled "Cultural Heritage: A Bridge Between Uzbekistan and Malaysia" was successfully held at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia on February 4.

As a result of this event, a decision was made to establish the Society of Scholars of Uzbekistan and Malaysia, and a Joint Declaration on Scholarly Cooperation was signed. Another significant outcome of the visit was the granting of access to digital copies of more than 100,000 rare manuscripts and unique publications by the International Institute of Islamic Understanding and Civilization of Malaysia to the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.

Tashkent will host the Cultural Legacy Week "The Phenomenon of the Oriental Renaissance: States, Religions, Personalities and Civilizations", which will include conferences, seminars, forums, exhibitions and presentations. More than 100 foreign scholars and experts, including heads of international cultural organizations, heads of foreign museums and libraries are expected to participate. The main goal of the Cultural Heritage Week in Tashkent is to strengthen international dialogue and mutual exchange of knowledge, approve new joint projects with foreign partners aimed at preserving, studying and popularizing the country's cultural legacy in accordance with the reforms initiated in the New Uzbekistan by the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

From October 18 to 28, exhibitions will also be open as part of the week, which will be available to residents of Tashkent and guests of the capital. Unique exhibitions dedicated to the rich historical and cultural legacy of Uzbekistan will be presented at the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, the al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies, the Alisher Navoi National Library and the Tashkent Branch of the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan. Thematic forums will be held with the participation of representatives of the scientific world and officials. Each day of the Cultural Legacy Week will be dedicated to a particular historical era, from pre-Islamic times to the Third Renaissance in New Uzbekistan.

An important part of the Week will be the presentation of the Center of Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan mega-project, initiated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Participants of the Cultural Legacy Week will have a unique opportunity to visit the building of the Center of Islamic Civilization under construction, where presentations of unique scientific projects jointly with foreign partners will be held. Also, trial thematic exhibitions and expositions will be opened in the museum halls of the Center, which are only being equipped with the participation of members of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan (WOSCU).

In general, the Cultural Legacy Week is a logical continuation of the work begun within the framework of the 8^th Congress in Samarkand, where a number of large projects were approved. Now the stage of their detailed development begins.
